Religious Literacy and Humanitarian Aid

The Religious Literacy Project partnered with Oxfam to explore how international non-governmental organizations that are engaged in humanitarian action understand the roles that religions play in local contexts. This five-month preliminary scoping project focused on a range of secular and faith-based international non-governmental organizations. Our findings were vetted by academics and representatives of the organizations surveyed, and the final report was published on March 31, 2017. The report can be downloaded here on the RLP site and here on the Oxfam site.  The press release about the report can be found here and a blog by Tara Gingerich, the Senior Researcher on the project can be found here. This project was funded by the Henry Luce Foundation.
